| Since April 1,2008, Mr Jean-Yves Fontaine and his wife Huguette are now the proud owners of «Camping La Liberte ». They would like to take this opportunity to thank Johanne and Serge for their 21 years of dedicated service.
The La Liberté Beach and Campground
have long been associated with fun, relaxation and tranquility.
This story dates
back to 1963. The origin of the beach: a sand pit,
owned by Mr. Ernest Laliberté and,
just next to it, the huge construction site for Highway
20 (Autoroute Jean-Lesage). This major road project required
an enormous amount of sand, which was dug out from the
pit. Gradually, the sand pit turned into a pleasant and
inviting stretch of water. A cleverly planned conversion
finally transformed it into a new beach that could be enjoyed
by local residents.
In 1967,
year of the Montreal World Fair (EXPO 67), Ernest's sons
Paul and Lucien and their wives took over. They decided
to set up a camping ground.
“Provide
the best services”
1987 would
be an important year for the La Liberté Beach and Campground.
New owners Johanne Gosselin and Serge Rodier acquired
this idyllic resort, bringing in extensive hospitality
experience and above all, new ideas.
Since then, 27 new
camping sites have been added, making a total of 345 sites,
of which 319 are now fully serviced. Several buildings
have been erected, along with facilities: restaurant, playgrounds,
convenience store and many other services.
The two major goals
are cleanliness and tranquility.
Upon your arrival
at “Camping La Liberté”, you will be greeted by attentive personnel...
and probably by owners Johanne and Serge themselves, renowned
for their good humour and broad smiles.
